Playdate Fun

It's summer!

Every school year when May comes around, I look forward to summer. I have a countdown on the board in my classroom, and I make sure that number goes down daily! I just know that summer is going to be full of exciting adventures with the kids and me.

Then summer hits, and I have no idea what to do.

Having two small kids to entertain is a job all by itself. It's quite the challenge finding something to do that would be appropriate for an almost 5 year old girl and an almost 2 year old boy. Hmmm...(thoughts???)

That's why I look forward to these days...the days when we have our baby playdates. It's fun to watch the same group of kids grow and play together, and as an added benefit us moms get to have some adult conversation. :)

Here are a couple pictures to show you how they've grown. I don't know about you, girls, but if you have anymore babies, we're going to have to get a bigger couch. :)

Friends

We celebrated our hew home this past Saturday with lots of friends and family. Don counted it up...We had 24 people in the house. He asked me what would have happened if we had that many people at the old house. My response? "We probably would have broken it." Ha!

Unfortunately, I didn't get my camera out once. :( What was I thinking?! Obviously, I wasn't.

Luckily, though, Amy got a few good pictures. We're excited that they, too, just moved into their new home. However, we're sad that they'll be so far away. Good luck in your new home, Amy, Matt, & Barrett! May you fill it with many wonderful new memories!

New House...Sneak Peak

We are LOVING our new home! It's still a work in progress. Walls need to be painted, and there are many more personal touches that need to be made. With 2 kids home for the summer, I'm sure we'll get more than our fair share of those! :)

The only thing I don't like so far is that there is much more floor that needs to be swept (daily, I might add). Dark wood floors show dirt too well. Any advice on how to keep those clean?

Going through it a 3rd time?!?!

Selling a house is so F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-N-G!!!! You may have read my earlier post about getting our first offer and losing it due to health issues with the buyer.

This past weekend, we got another offer, and this morning the buyer had to withdraw. This time, we didn't make it all the way to closing due to funding issues. The buyers debt to income ratio was too high, so their lender would not approve them (despite the fact that they'd already been given a preapproval letter).

The good news is that the withdrawals don't have anything to do with our house. They still like the house. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this house!

I hope what they say is true..."The 3rd time is the charm."!!!!

Cravings

Ha! Gotcha...no, not my cravings.

Donny has always been my good eater. Remember when we had to put him on a diet when he was just a few months old?

We went to dinner this past weekend (after going to look at new furniture for a new house we might not get...boo!) and we got the pleasure of watching Donny do this...



Yes, you're seeing right. He's dipping his french fries in my refried beans. He was LOVING it! However, Mommy was not loving the diapers that came with this the day after. Ha!!!

Highest of the High to the Lowest of the LOW

As you know, we put our house on the market at the end of January. We had several showings right off the bat followed by 2 weeks of ice and snow. That definitely slowed the traffic. But, to our delight, we received an offer on Saturday, February 19th. The offer was good, we countered, and the buyer accepted. We even went to look at new houses the same day we received an offer on our house. We found the home we LOVE and put an offer on it the following day.

Our potential buyer scheduled some inspections, we made some repairs in anticipation of selling the house, and then BAM! We found out that our buyer was terminating the contract due to health issues. While her reasoning is understandable, it sure doesn't lessen the blow to us.

We may lose the house we fell in love with. Don's ready to drain his 401K and all of our savings to take on 2 mortgages, but I'm trying to think further on down the road. I don't want to drain all of those funds...One day, we'll want to retire and need some money to do that with.

Today, our house is officially back on the market. Back to cleaning all night and every morning in hopes that a new buyer will come along soon!

Selling a house is an emotional roller coaster that I do not ever want to go through again!
