We've known for several months that my mom would be relocated to Tennessee for work, but the actual date of her leaving has really snuck up on me. She's moving tomorrow morning! Luckily, my dad will still be here in town, but it will be SO DIFFERENT without seeing Mom at home when we go for family dinners every Sunday. Who will cook? LOL
I'm not sure of the exact amount of time Mom will be living in Tennessee, but from what I understand it will be a few years. :o(
I know that she doesn't really have a choice as to whether to go or stay -- as she has put in so many years with Ford Credit that she has to stick it out a few more to get her full retirement benefits. Plus, the economy sucks (excuse my language, but is there really a better word?).
The selfish part of me wishes she could/would stay. This relocation couldn't have come at a worse time! We're about to welcome a new baby into our family, and I have no idea how to be a mom of 2 kids. My mom won't be just 2 miles down the road anymore. :o( I know she's just going to be a phone call or e-mail away, but I need my mom here.
She has already made vacation arrangements so she can be here when we welcome the new baby into our world. She'll be here for the first two weeks of his PLANNED arrival. Let's hope he stays put until she can be here.
Your post made me want to cry!! I know I'll be in the same boat as you with a new baby and all, but you know you can call me for anything! I'm just up the road...
ReplyDeleteI'll be here for you!!! Seriously!!! I know it's going to be hard without her here :( I wish I lived closer to my mama too.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be fine though, and before you know it, she'll be BACK!!!
Oh gosh, that made me so sad! I'm so sorry your mom is having to relocate. My mom lives 45 minutes away and I still think that is too far. I bet you will be fine as a mom to two kiddos, though!!!
